Wild Nature ~Winter~Rebun Island
The sun shining on the island is dazzling
Stroll around the island in mid-winter
Mt. Rishiri towering beyond the snowfield feels as if it is close by.
Enjoy the magnificent spectacles of nature.
Enjoy snowshoe hiking around the cape with 176-m-high sheer cliffs on the west coast of Rebun Island. The sights of the island as seen from the silvery white snowfield and summit are spectacular. If you are lucky, you may even see Steller’s sea eagles and white-tailed sea eagles (both designated as protected species) flying below.
Northern Canary Park
Enjoy snowshoe hiking around Northern Canary Park, which is well known as a location spot for films, in the southern part of Rebun Island. If weather permits, you will be able to see panoramic views of snow-covered Mt. Rishirifuji.
Fujimigaoka Ski Area
The downhill slope, which makes you feel as if you are skiing down toward the sea, is a prime location for skiers. Although the course is only around 200 m in length, the experience of skiing while viewing Mt. Rishirifuji from up close as it seemingly floats on the sea is amazing! This ski area is also popular with islanders.
